Toponymy
The name Minendorf originally used to refer exclusively to the small mining village near what was once Wiesenstadt, but over time, as the mining colony grew larger and had offshoots of its own (See: Ostendorf and Westendorf), it gradually came to refer to the Notkeric settlements as a whole.
As time went on, Minendorf also came to colloquially refer to the entire peninsula west of the Tugentweg Mountain.
Early Minendorf
The founding Minendorf is directly tied to the founding and development of the Republic of Stonemasons. Following the Queensbrian nobleman Notker’s expedition and the founding of Tüsenbach, another expedition headed by Notker set off northwards. This second expedition sought lands that would make them closer to their patron Seeker, Warian, the Watchful. The expedition travelled along the Wrackeneß Coast, though was blocked at the southern reaches of the Tugentweg mountain range by a large rockslide. This detour led Notker’s party to a large lowground that would later be home to Lengengries and -graben. The party travelled further westward along the eastern base of the Tugentweg range until eventually crossing a small valley south of Schnilee Peak.
In the First Millennium, King Notker discovered a meadow in the northwestern region of Ardonmeri. Surrounded by large mountains and a so-called "wasteland", King Notker found the region easily defensible and through royal decree ordered the meadow be settled. The decree declared this new settlement to be the capital of his kingdom; his kingdom was also declared to stretch from the northern banks to the southern valley. Almost immediately, construction began on the newly-founded capital: Wiesenstadt. One of the royal stonemasons' first projects was the commission of a statue of the Seeker Eisklettchen.
